Your files

This option allows you to create an empty file. To upload a file, see Uploading a file below:

1. Click the Home icon on the top menu.
2. Click Your files.
3. Click on the folder to which you want to add a file (for example, Your web files, Your private files or one of the course file folders. A file with the extension you specify is automatically created).
4. Click Add new file.
5. In the pop-up box, enter a file name with a valid extension (for example, .html, .doc, .txt, .xls or similar). You have to specify what type of file you want to add by setting the proper extension.
   
   
   
   
6. Click OK. An empty file is created.
   
   Open it by clicking it. To edit HTM or HTML files, click the edit icon: . The file opens in the internal editor where you can edit it.

Click on the folder to which you want to add a folder (for example, Your web files, Your private files or one of the course file folders).

3. In the pop-up box, enter a folder name.
   
   
   
   
4. Click OK. The folder is now created.

3. Click on the folder to which you want to upload a file (for example, Your web files, Your private files or one of the course file folders).
4. Click Upload file.
5. You now have two options:
   1. Find the file that you want to upload, and drag it over the yellow field that is labelled: 'Drop your files here'; then drop it.
   2. Alternatively, click the Browse button and find the file you want to upload from your computer.

1. Click the Home icon on the top menu.
2. Click Your files.

Select the file you want to move, copy or delete by checking the box in front of the file name.

3. From the Choose operation drop-down list, choose whether to delete, copy or move the file.
   
   
   
   
4. If you choose to delete, click OK to confirm the deletion. If you want to move or copy the file, you are asked to specify an area to which you want to move or copy the file. Note: When you move a file, the file is removed from its current location and moved to another. If you copy a file, it remains in its current location and is copied to the new.
5. Select a folder in the area you choose to move or copy the file to:
   
   
   
   The file essay.doc is moved to the folder Shared files in Your web files. The single backslash represents the root folder in Your web files (the main Your web files folder).
6. Click OK to finish the moving/copying. If a file with a similar file name exists in the folder, you can choose to overwrite the existing file by checking the box in front of "Overwrite".
   
   
   
   

1. Click 'Your files' from the homepage or 'Files' in the 'Course settings' menu.
2. Click on the extraction icon next to the file you want to extract (only files that itslearning can extract are given this icon).
3. In the extraction dialog box, indicate how you want to extract the files.
1. Replace/overwrite existing files and folders.
2. Unzip contents to a new folder. A new folder is created each time. If a folder with the relevant name already exists, a number is appended to the name for the new folder, to make the name unique.
3. Delete the compressed files afterward. The space taken by the compressed plus the extracted files may cause your disk quota to be exceeded. Select this option if you want to delete the compressed files during extraction, to free space for the extracted files. Note: The compressed file is deleted only if extraction was successful.
4. Click Extract.

In itslearning, you can extract compressed files that are both zipped and gzipped (.zip, .gz, .gzip, .tar.gz, .tgz, and .tar.gzip).
